Quality Iron Casting
Iron Casting is one of the oldest and most recognized methods of casting iron into useful products. Made with many recipes for thousands of years, iron castings are made of graphite flakes either ferrite, pearlite, or a combination of the two. The end products can be made harder or more elastic, depending on your specific needs by varying the iron casting's metallurgy. Secondary processes and alloy additions can be used to further affect the properties of the finished castings.
For 145 years, Sioux City Foundry has been providing high quality iron casting products and services to our clients. The iron we produce is used in a wide range of industries, areas and applications, such as railroads, buildings, transportation, and agriculture.
We have a long history of casting iron, and we continue to upgrade our equipment and plant facilities in order to provide our customers with the highest quality products using the latest technology. Our modern furnaces, installed in 2009, help to reduce production times with faster melting, and enhance our ability to provide competitively priced high quality iron castings. Our knowledgeable and experienced team provides in-house heat-treating and metallurgical testing to ensure timely production of your order.
We can pour or repair most iron castings from several ounces to several tons, and from one casting to thousands. We produce various mold sizes with green sand molding processes, utilizing Hunters, Squeezer, and Rota-Lift systems, as well as the Flaskless no-bake molding system. We also have the capability to produce oil sand, shell sand, isocure, and no-bake cores.
In addition to custom iron castings, we offer specialty products such as Pile Drive Hammers, Follow Blocks and Breaker Balls. Call for more information today!
