Expert Iron Castings
Cast gray iron is the oldest and most recognized type of cast iron. It has been produced in a variety of forms for thousands of years, and is composed of graphite flakes, either ferrite, pearlite or a combination of the two.
Cast gray iron can be metallurgically adjusted to make the final product harder or softer to suit a customer's specific application. Alloy additions and secondary processes, such as annealing or heat-treating, can affect the physical properties of the gray iron casting resulting in a stronger product.
Sioux City Foundry has been producing expert iron castings for over 140 years. We continue to supply gray, ductile, austempered ductile and ni-hard iron castings. Our customers come from a variety of industry sectors including the industrial, engineering, decorative, architectural, government and artistic sectors.
We have the capability to pour custom castings from a few ounces to 3,000 pounds. We produce various mold sizes with green sand molding processes utilizing Hunters, Squeezer, and Rota-Lift systems, as well as the Flaskless no-bake molding system. We also have the capability to produce oil sand, shell sand, isocure, and no-bake cores. Our experienced and knowledgeable staff, as well as modern production methods, increase production efficiency. In-house metallurgical testing, heat-treating capabilities and new furnaces, installed in 2009, allow us to decrease the amount of time it takes to melt the iron, and provide quality metal castings at competitive prices.
