Benefits of Ductile Cast Iron
Ductile cast iron (also known as ductile iron, nodular cast iron, spherulitic graphite cast iron, spheroidal graphite iron or SG iron), was invented in 1943 at the International Nickel Company Research Laboratory by Keith Millis. While most varieties are brittle, due to the flake-like shape of the nodular graphite inclusions, the spherical shape of the graphite in ductile cast iron makes it more flexible and elastic.
Similar to cast iron, Ductile Cast Iron provides comprehensive strength and durability at a competitive price. Its increased tensile strength and resilience are two benefits of ductile cast iron. Ductile cast iron has become a world-class material. It offers casting solutions at a competitive price compared to traditional alternatives, such as malleable iron or cast steel.
